There is no other breed as awe-inspiring as the Neapolitan Mastiff. It is powerful, massive dog with thick loose skin, and a strong bone structure.  The movement of this breed is that of a lion on the prowl, fluid but not flashy, powerful and ready to pounce if needed. The look that this dog carries is unique to its breed, and infact no two mastini look the same! High in intellegence and back bone this breed isn't for everyone so PLEASE do your homework before purchasing a mastini.
Health is a very important topic to read up on with this breed, there is alot of health concerns that come with a giant breed dog. Proper feeding can and will help for a happy life for your new companion. Be forewarned this breed will eat you out of house and home! They weigh as much as most adults, and will eat more then a teenage boy! This is a breed that needs to use its mind and body, yes it would love to be a couch potato as well but will eat the couch if left without any other means to expel energy. If you are looking to leave a dog outside all the time and not socialize, or train THIS IS NOT THE RIGHT DOG! It is highly recommended to have a trainer work with you and your mastini.

The five important elements of mastino's breed type is look, head, size, attitude and movement. The order on this list is not by importance. Think about it....do you want a mastiff who has the "look" but can not move?! No ofcourse not, but this is something that does happen when breeders strive towards the wrong goal. Look is great and can win shows, but if the dog is in pain and dies at age four, what good is it? That being said the proper look of this breed is, massive, powerful, bestial appearance, with thick loose skin. Loose skin is what makes this mastiff really stand apart from other mastiff breeds. Watch out for over-done wrinkles and loose skin on pups, although it may have the look that an adult mastini should have, pups should not. Most mastini will mature somewhere between two and four, which means until then your dogs look will keep changing! Head and expression is what most people see first when looking at a mastini, which is unique to this breed. The size and weight of a mastini's can greatly differ from one another. Height somewhere between 24 to 31 inches is correct for showing. Weight somewhere between 110 to 200+ pounds. As long as correct proportion and function is maintained most prefer the larger sized mastini. The length of body should be 10%-15% greater then its height. The body should be more of a rectangular shape. Mastini's are steady and loyal to it's owner. Attitude is Calm but wary towards strangers, and are not apt to bite without reason. The movement of a Neo. is not flashy, more rolling and lumbering. Taking long strides to cover more ground quickly.
